Handling is no longer just about moving parts. Thanks to the use of data, vision, and smart software, handling is increasingly becoming a determining factor in the entire production process.
In this third episode, we explore what smart handling means in practice. We discuss how machines automatically adapt to changing products and production conditions and how different steps in a production line communicate with one another.
For example, a smart line uses vision technology to recognize which products are on a pallet, automatically determines the best way to feed them, and retrieves information from recipes on how each product should be finished. After finishing, products can then be restacked, and double-sided processing can also be fully integrated into the process.
The result is not a collection of separate machines, but a single integrated process in which handling and finishing are fully coordinated. For each product, software can determine which steps of the line are necessary and which are not.
